In Bonn since 1963

On 29th November 1949 the small town of Bonn was elected the capital city of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the following decades the federal district influenced the character of the city.

The city of Germanic and Roman origin on the Rhine looks back on a history of more than 2000 years which makes it one of the oldest cities in Germany.
With its population of 318,809 Bonn is one of the 20 largest cities in Germany.

Bonn is a historical, cultural and political city.
The foundation stone for Bonn’s expansion as the German United Nations city was laid on 20th June 1996.

Today Bonn is the home to 18 United Nations organisations.
The city of Bonn has set up a website in English called Bonn International.
